Alaska Pipeline EXXON/MOBIL TIPTIG SA Continues to do it Cheaper, Better Faster!!!

TIPTIG SA has once again proven to be the process to tackle critical weld requirements and produce quality products. End users are very pleased with the product delivered and as a result of the action taken, TIPTIG SA is now entering into a JV with it’s client to explore further opportunities in Southern Africa. End users are very pleased with the product delivered and more enquiries are expected in 2017.
Project: Backfill Piping At the request of the client, TIPTIG SA were engaged to complete the welding of 280 100Nb 14mm thick piping. Previously the client had tried numerous other weld techniques at considerable cost without success and were faced with the prospect of losing the entire contract as a result of not meeting specified quality and delivery targets. TIPTIG Challenges The client in an attempt to overcome earlier welding problems and prior to TIPTIG arriving on site, had prepared in excess of 80 pipes with incorrect weld joint configuration i.e excessive joint gaps and pipe weld bevel up to 45Degrees! TIPTIG Results TIPTIG welding equipment and 2 qualified welders were mobilised to Johannesburg and within 24 hours had successfully completed welds to the required quality, despite numerous weld joint set up challenges and all 280 pipes within 4 weeks with no rejects.
